I am one of four women who shared a vision of going to Bhutan. My friends and I would be considered “active seniors”. We wrote to a few companies and Bhutan Acorn was the first to respond. Bhutan Acorn continued to be responsive to every question and request we made. We were impressed by Karma P’s (the owner’s) efficiency, attention to detail as well as his patience. We traveled in April 2023 to many sites and hiked many trails, ending in the Taktsang hike (Tiger’s Nest). Our guide, Thinley S, and our driver, Sonam D, deserve special recognition. As cultural ambassadors, they represented the best of Bhutan - knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind and good-humored. Throughout the hikes and treks, our guide made sure that we were safe, that we got food that was compatible with our taste and that we were comfortable in our hotels. Our driver safely got us to our various destinations despite some tricky road conditions and made thoughtful gestures like getting cough drops when one of us developed a cough. I should mention that, by my own fault, I sustained a wrist injury that required some medical visits. Thinley, Sonam and Karma did a lot of problem-solving so that my friends could continue enjoying their day while I saw the doctors. In this spontaneous situation (that is, out of the planned itinerary), I was touched by their personal and professional attention and care. In terms of advice, I would say be sure to bring trekking poles, stay hydrated on the trails, be respectful to the land, the temples and those who guide and serve you. And don’t miss taking a stone bath! All in all, I believe you will be very pleased if you travel with Bhutan Acorn. I highly recommend them.

A must-visit! Itinerary was well-planned but flexible to our needs. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and both the guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation ranged from good to excellent. Well-accommodated to dietary requirements. Could not recommend more!

I Had a wonderful time in Bhutan. My guide was Singe, he was kind and helpful throughout the whole tour. He had in depth knowledge of his beautiful country and was always happy to accommodate any questions. The food was excellent and more than enough, In our free time Singe asked if there were any places /things outside of the itinerary that we wanted to experience. My husband and I just returned from a 7-day tour of Bhutan, organized by Luxury Holidays Nepal, and we were blown away by the beauty of this country. It seemed like an Asian version of Switzerland to us, with its gorgeous snow-capped mountains, and foothills terraced with rice fields. It also has a Swiss-like attention to detail and quality in its architecture and handicrafts. The hotels are not up to the same standards unfortunately, unless you want to pay a fortune for 5-star hotels, but the 3-star ones selected for us were adequate. Everything else done by Luxury Holidays Nepal was top-notch. All communication and visa application before the trip was efficient, the pick-up at the airport went totally smoothly, and it was upon this pick-up that we met Sangay and Chimi, our guide and driver for the week, and the nicest people you could possibly imagine. The two of them fully demonstrate the warmth and hospitality that is typical of the Bhutanese people, but we got an added bonus in them, because they are hilarious! They had us laughing all over this beautiful country. In general, it seems that Bhutanese guides really love their jobs, and we enjoyed watching them laugh together as they met up at various tour sites. It's a small country and a small tourism industry, so not only do the guides meet up, but you often see the same tourists at different venues! It made for a very intimate experience, and we feel very lucky to be among the few who have experienced this wonderful country. If you can afford it (it is expensive!), I highly recommend a visit to Bhutan, and if you do go there, I highly recommend that you turn to Luxury Holidays Nepal to organize your adventure. With their team behind you, you will have happy travels in the country known for its Gross National Happiness!
